• ADR Certificates

  Valid for all drivers

  All our drivers hold valid ADR certificates for the transport of dangerous goods by road (European Agreement ADR). The certificates cover the required dangerous goods classes for medical and pharmaceutical waste transport.

  Our operations fully comply with the requirements of the Waste Management Act (WMA, SG No. 53/2012). The WMA regulates the collection, transport, recovery and disposal of waste in Bulgaria.

• Ordinance No. 2 of 2014

  Waste classification

  Ordinance No. 2 of 23 July 2014 transposes the European List of Waste into Bulgarian law. Every transport is documented with the exact six-digit code.

  • Classification is preceded by a working sheet under Annex No. 5, approved by RIOSV
  • Where the composition is unknown, classification is based on testing under Annex No. 6
  • Hazardous properties are determined under Annex No. 3 to the WMA (HP1 – HP15)

  Transport documents and record keeping

  For hazardous waste, an identification document is drawn up under Annex No. 8 to Art. 12(1) of Ordinance No. 1 of 4 June 2014. For non-hazardous waste, a consignment document is kept for each batch.

  • Records the type and code of the waste, the quantity, date and route, and the details of the producer, the carrier and the receiving facility
  • Signed by the consignor, the carrier and the receiving facility
  • Retained and produced to the control authorities on request

  Waste from medical and health establishments

  The transport of hospital and medical waste is further governed by Ordinance No. 1 of 9 February 2015 on the requirements for the collection and treatment of waste on the premises of medical and health establishments.

  • Art. 2(2) requires the carrier to hold a registration document under Art. 35 of the WMA. Ask for it when signing a contract
  • Segregation at source, packaging and interim storage are the establishment's responsibility
  • Infectious waste is carried as ADR class 6.2, in UN-certified packaging

  National Waste Information System

  We help you keep your records and report on waste activities through the National Waste Information System, maintained by the Executive Environment Agency, and we prepare the annual reports, which are a condition of the registration document.

• Contracts with receiving facilities

  Handover only to licensed sites

  Waste is handed over only to holders of a permit or an integrated permit under Art. 35(1) of the WMA for the relevant activity, site and code. We hold contracts with incinerators and landfills covering the codes within our scope.

  • Copies of the contracts are produced at RIOSV's request
